From 18 months to 88 years there is a program for you here at Midwest Gymnastics!

  • Shooting Stars

Can’t keep your child’s feet on the ground? This class teaches basic gymnastics skills in a safe and fun environment. Children, kindergarten age and up, spend time on each of the four gymnastics apparatus as well as trampoline and our specially designed tumble-trak learning skills such as: forward rolls, running drills, and various ways to walk across the beam. Behavior concepts introduced in Mighty-Tykes are reinforced and new ideas like conditioning and proper skill technique are introduced.

Springers

Does your daughter do flips at home? Children continue to be exposed to all of the gymnastics apparatus and build on the basic gymnastics skill taught in Shooting Stars. They are also introduced to new skills such as: backward rolls, pullovers on bars, and cartwheels. The learning environment continues to be safe and fun, but concepts of proper skill technique and form play a larger role in the curriculum. Understanding of behavior concepts such as: standing in line, listening to directions, and respect for others is expected.

Leapers

Does your daughter wait all week to come to gymnastics? Children spend a longer amount of time on the gymnastics equipment mastering basic skills and being introduced to new and more challenging skills. Specific skills include: backbends on floor, casting on bars, and forward rolls on beam. The curriculum continues to focus on proper skill technique and form. The atmosphere of the class is fun and energetic, but concepts like hard work and self-esteem are introduced.

The children begin to clearly understand cause and effect concepts like: hard work and persistence leads to success, as well as general concepts like identifying and working though personal limitations and fear in order to improve self-esteem. The curriculum continues to reward hard work and attention to technique and form while performing skills.

Flippers

Children continue to fine-tune skills learned in Kippers and progress onto skills such as: flyaway's off bars, round-off, back handspring, back tucks on floor, and more advanced leaps, jumps and turns on beam.
