Preschool Classes:

Parent Tykes

18 Months to 3 Yrs | 45 Min Class | 5 to 1 Ratio

This class will introduce gymnastics to any little person in a fun and exciting atmosphere. With their their parents, the little gymnast will work on mini skills on equipment that is made for preschoolers. While in class they will work on developing skills like listening, moving in a circuit, and following directions. During class the parents are expected to help aid their kid in attemping the skills and following directions. Come ready to have a good time, bond with your kid, & be ready when they get angry that it's over to fast!

Mighty Tykes 3

3 Year Olds | 45 Min Class | 5 to 1 Ratio

This class will start to develop lead up skills that will stay with them for the rest of their life. Besides gymnastics your child will also work on important developmental milestones like listening, taking turns, communicating, and coorperative play. From here, the next level will have harder skills that are more complex and the pace of the class will also increase.

Mighty Tykes 4/5

4 and 5 Year Olds | 45 Min Class | 5 to 1 Ratio

This class starts to build on the skills already learned in the previous levels. If you are just starting, the first couple class take a while until the routine is established. Once in the class the kids are moving the entire time, taking turns, and developing the skills needed to transition into the boys, girls, and specilized programs that await them once they are 5 or have started kindergarten.

Girls Classes:

Shooting Stars (lvl 1)

Ages around 5-8 Years | 60 Min Class | 7 to 1 Ratio

This class will start to build the foundation for the rest of the skills to come. From here most skills are either with spot, or on the equipment that will aid them somehow. In a class with a bunch kids the pace is fun but challenging. Starting cartwheels, support on the bars, and the beginnings of walking certian ways and jump on the balance beams. From here the skills will get a little more demanding, and the quality will increase! In gymnstics you can start here and go anywhere!

Springers (lvl 2)

Ages around 5-9 | 60 Min Class | 7 to 1 Ratio

This class will build on the basic skills from the Shooting Stars class. Some older girls or kids that are more coordinated may start here. In this class the kids will learn the following skills without assistance or the use of mats to aid them before they can move up . Forward and backward rolls on floor, small handstand and cartwheels, pulling over and under on the bars. Rolls and cartwheels on low/floor beams, and run and hurdling into beginner vaults. From here the skills will get more complex and these basics are crucial to achieve success in the next levels

Leapers (lvl 3)

Ages around 6-10 | 90 Min Class | 7 to 1 Ratio

This class will start the more advance skills that without some prior gymnastics experience may be to challenging to some kids. In the class, the kids will further improve their abilities and work on some of the following skills: handstands, front to back cartwheels, rolls with straight arms and legs, backhip circles and underswings on bars, cartwheel and easy jumps on beam, and running into rolls and handstand on vault. With the class lasting an hour and a half the kids will go to all 4 events and end with general strengthening to help improve the quality and ease of the skills.

Sparklers (lvl 4)

Ages around 7-12 | 120 Min Class | 8 to 1 Ratio

This class will start combining skills together to create a sequence of different gymnastics maneuvers. Starting the handspring shapes on many events, putting 3-5 skills on bars together without stopping or assistance, and using the power of your run to make your handstand vaults will all be an important part of your class. The skills in the upper levels are harder to achieve so be ready to practice and work hard in your classes.

Kippers (lvl 5)

Ages around 8-14 | 120 Min Class | 8 to 1 Ratio

This class will have a lot more advanced skills than all the others. Working on handsprings with spot, advanced circling skills on bars and the beginning of walkovers on the beam. These skills will be useful if they'd like to compete on a high school team, or just do some cool tricks at a park. These skills will require a certian amount of strength to achieve. If your child has any trouble with progressing, don't forget that you get a discount for attending multiple classes.

Flippers (lvl 6)

Ages around 8-16 | 120 Min Class | 8 to 1 Ratio

This class is the final level of the girls program. If you got this far, congrats on your hard work and dedication. In this class, kids can start putting skills into routines and these skills will rival the skills from some high school teams (you can start high school in 7th grade, talk to your local high school). From here kids often come more then once a week to keep these advanced skills current. With twisting and flipping, springing and leaping this class may be the most work, but it is also very rewarding!

Boys Classes:

Ironmen (lvl 1)

Ages around 5-8 | 60 Min Class | 7 to 1 Ratio

This class is the first level of the boys program. This class will start building the foundation of the 6 mens events. With basic holds, swings, shapes and skills on Floor, Bars, Vault, Horse, Rings, and Parallel Bars the kids will develop a better body awareness and from here move onto becoming a well rounded gymnast!

Ring Masters (lvl 2)

Ages around 6-10 | 60 Min Class | 7 to 1 Ratio

This class takes the basics learned from Ironmen and will build on them. If you are a little older or have excellent coordination then you may start here. This level will start more advanced swings and holds on each of the events. General strength and understanding of the basics will assist the development of better cartwheels and handstands, pullovers and large swings on bars, inverted holds on rings, the start of circling skills on horse and the beginnings of flipping vaults. All these skills are crucial for moving up to level 3 Gym Maniacs

Gym Maniacs (lvl 3)

Ages around 7-12 | 90 Min Class | 8 to 1 Ratio

This class will begin the harder skills, that without prior gymnastics experience may be to challenging. In this class, gymnasts will be working on round off and handspringing skills, circling and swings on bars, small dismounts and hard holds on p-bars, along with swinging on rings to and from inverted shapes. This is a great time to ask about the boys team program or come more than once a week to get more practice on those hard skills.

Dynamite Dudes (lvl 4)

Ages around 8-15 | 120 Min Class | 8 to 1 Ratio

This class is the top of the food chain with the curriculum for level 5 and 6, from here the skills are limitless. In this class the kids will build on the skills already mastered and continue to work on tumbling sequences that have 3 or more skills in a row, start the working of baby giants and advanced swings on bars. Flipping and handspringing vaults over objects and continue to improve strength needed for advanced holds and presses. Coming more than once a week is never required but often suggested so the gymnasts have more time to work on these harder skills.

Specialized Classes:

Mighty Movers (Adaptive Gymnastics)

Ages around 6-16 | 60 Min Class | 7 to 1 Ratio

This class is designed to work on real gymnastics skills in a fun and easy environment. Please call and talk to the coach to inform them of any physical or mental limitations that your child may have. Midwest always strives to place a gymnast where they will be most successful. This class will work on general skills, along with improving strength, flexibility, coordination and motorskills. If a mainstream class may be to challenging then give this class a try. Everyone can be a gymnasts, and have fun doing it!

Tramp and Tumbling (lvl 2 or higher)

Ages from 5-18 | 60 Min Class | 8 to 1 Ratio

This class is perfect for any gymnast who has a specific floor or tramp goal. While still progressing the basic skills, the kids in this class will work on what skills they need. No matter if you are a cheer leader trying to make the team and need that handspring or tuck, or if you are a brother of a gymnast and you want to get that front flip down, this class is for you. Be sure to look at the schedule to make sure the class is around the age of your gymnast. Besides you get tramp every week! Sounds like a good deal for me!

Parkour / Free Running

Ages 10+ | 90 Min Class | 8 to 1 Ratio

This class is one of the newest classes added to the program. With the popularity of the urban/street gymnastics growing, the need to learn these skills safely has started this class. In this class the kids will learn how to flip off, onto and over things while being coached the proper ways to get over and fall without getting hurt. Throw in some tramp and conditioning and you have a fun class. Find the best class suited to their age and get their skills under control. Any questions please leave a note for the coach.

High School Prep (Rookies)

Ages around 11-17 | 120 Min Class | 10 to 1 Ratio

This class is available all year and is designed for the girls that are either planning on joining a high school team, or are on the JV level of their high school team. These kids will start putting together the skills needed to make their routines for the high school season. With the ability in most areas to start high school gymnastics in 7th grade, it's never to late to start. Kids will work on handspring vaults, tumbling passes, bar routines using the uneven set, and get the skills needed for a beam routine. This is a fun way to introduce high school gymnastics without the pressure of more experienced gymnasts getting in the way.

Advance High School (Veterans)

Ages around 12-19 | 150 Min Class | 10 to 1 Ratio

This class is offered only during the off season of the high school season. These gymnasts will continue to improve their skills in a faster paced class working on more advanced skills. Here they will start twisting and flipping vaults, have release moves and advanced dismounts off bars, walkover and springing series on beam, and advanced flipping and twisting floor passes. If you are at this level of high school, coming more then once a week to keep your skills up to date is encouraged.
